Occasionally we all have those moments when we find ourselves staring at our clients or co-workers in utter disbelief at what has just happened. Someone wondering why they can't get an eleven by seventeen inch print out from an eight and a half by eleven inch printer. My personal favorites being; someone kicking the hell out of the fuser assembler in an effort to get it to stop jamming on a large scale high speed copier/digital black and white output device to a conversation with a "veteran" designer who wanted to know the difference between RGB and CMYK color.
As rumored Macromedia announced today the release of Studio 8, on August 8. The email I got stating that if I hurry I could get one of a limited number of "Studio" back packs while quantities last if preordered the suite now. I never did understand the reasoning behind preorders like this. Especially in terms of software. Typically I order hardcopies of everything, but with so many software packages offered as a download today it's not like they're going to run out right? But, I digress.
As a visual producer one of the things that's always intrigued me is how to produce the most appropriate images for my clients and myself. One area of study that I stumbled upon in university was the field of Semiotics or Semiology, dependent upon which side of the pond you hail from. Until recently the field has dealt primarily with verbal language but over the last few decades has delved further into the visual arena of how we construct and view images.
