The Photo Book - As Seen on Seinfeld?
It was just a matter of time before I blogged about one of my favorite photography books, and when I noticed it a couple nights ago in a few scenes of the 1998 Seinfeld episode "The Bookstore", I knew now was as good a time as any to mention it.

Graphic designers interested in learning about photography or looking for a source for inspiration may want to invest in "The Photo Book" from Phaidon Press. The 10"x10"x7lbs.-book showcases 500 photographs, one each from 500 famous photographers arranged alphabetically. Each image is accompanied by a couple hundred words of text that provide insight into the image and the creator. The descriptions don't focus on photographic technique, but rather concepts, motives, and perspectives.
Images, some of which you will surely recognize, span over 100 years and capture scenes from all photographic genres.
Since its publication in 1997, the book has become one of the more well-known texts on photography, but I doubt the appearance on Seinfeld had anything to do with it. In fact, I e-mailed Phaidon on Tuesday, and even they were not aware of its placement in the show.
But now that the book has been exposed as a classic Seinfeld prop, I'd suggest getting a copy before they run out or Phaidon decides to slap a tacky "As Seen on Seinfeld" sticker on them.
Ok. I doubt either will happen, but Seinfeld or not, the book is a worthwhile investment that will strengthen your creative muscles by expanding the world around you.

They make a miniature Photo Book. It's $10 and slightly smaller than 5"x7".
