Paint Your Stinkin' Shoes!
Chronicle Books is the distributor of Custom Kicks and, as most of us know, is a trend-setter in innovative design books and merchandise ranging from fine art to cookbooks. This ingenuity in subject matter and format really comes through in Kicks and helps the content shine.
Kicks starts out by telling about the phenomenon of customization, how it all started for the artists, and even a tips and advice section for first-timers. This all includes different styles and techniques ideas as well as suggested materials by the artists themselves. It's really quite helpful.

The footwear in Custom Kicks is not only sneakers, although they are a majority. There are boots, sandals, high heels, and even roller skates which have been altered with paint and ink. Pages 146 and 147 are particularly worth checking out (how's that for a tease?).
Anyway, Custom Kicks will be of special interest to all folks who are interested in updating or upgrading their apparel with a personal flair. To some of us (me), however, this book will be of interest for a quick glance or two and then passed along to someone who more appreciates the art and craft in a deeper way. In other words, Kicks is a good coffee table book, but not really one for the design library, in my humble opinion. Don't get mad, I'm just sayin'...

Great work!! I also try to paint my Converse all star shoes.
That looks fun, but too bad I don't wear plain white shoes. Though maybe they would be cheap to buy...Would make a killer present for someone.
hey wow, this sounds really cool!
if you ask me, designing shoes is really cool... like that design doc martens comp. at the moment... i just entered that (http://www.dmbootdesign.com/view/funkyfeet) they're nowhere near as cool as these other shoes but it was pretty fun :)
